Human rights group Amnesty Worldwide mentioned on Tuesday it’s stopping its work in India as a result of the federal government has frozen its financial institution accounts within the newest motion towards it for talking out about rights violations.
“The organisation has been compelled to let go of workers in India and pause all its ongoing marketing campaign and analysis work,” the group mentioned in an announcement.
“That is newest within the incessant witch-hunt of human rights organisations by the federal government of India over unfounded and motivated allegations.”
It mentioned its financial institution accounts have been frozen on Sept 10. Amnesty mentioned it had highlighted rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir and riots in Delhi in current days and the federal government had sought to punish it for that.
There was no quick response from authorities spokesmen to requests for remark.
