Good Luck Paul, & Thanks For The Memories

As many may have read in last week's issue of The Message, long time editor Paul Larochelle has left the paper to take a full time position in law enforcement, a profession he'd been in many years ago. Paul will be sorely missed here, as he has been such an integral part of The Message for the last two decades. Several e-mails and phone calls over the past week have let us know that many of our readers will miss Paul also.

The loss is very personal to me, as Paul and I have worked very closely together for six years in a job that can have a considerable amount of stress and pressure, while staying good friends. The fact that I tend to be upbeat and optimistic, while Paul is, shall we say, a bit darker, could not have been easy for him.

VA Students Raise Money For Cancer Patients

Vermont Academy junior Wendy Dunkle and senior Grace Talmadge have been on a mission. They pledged to wear pink every day in October to help raise awareness of breast cancer issues. In addition to wearing pink, they also raised over $750 for area breast cancer patients by selling fellow students the opportunity to dress down on October 25.

Astronaut Dr. Jay Buckley Visits Park St. School

Last year Ms. Chamber’s third grade class at Park Street wrote to Astronaut Dr. Jay Buckey during their unit on the solar system. His schedule was such that he was unable to visit at that time. Recently, however, the current third grade students and the fourth graders, were treated to a visit and presentation by Buckey on his Neurolab Space Shuttle Columbia Mission in 1998 to study how the brain and the nervous system work in space (microgravity).
